Well BareBones Ent decided to compile a list of our favorite music venues in the area that we have been to, to see live music! Join us in our rundown of these spots

and let us know in the comments what your favorites are! Here are our Top 10 Must Visit Music Venues in DFW! These venues are not listed in any particular order

Gas Monkey Live/Bar N’ Grill

Gas Monkey Live

The dual threat of Gas Monkey has 2 different stages in different locations about a street apart. Gas Monkey Live is more of a traditional venue, while Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill is an outside stage at the restaurant. First Gas Monkey Live is a huge building and the sound travels very well even all the way to the back. The club also features a huge parking lot right on site. Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill has a fun outside stage (Though it can be very rough in TX heat, stay hydrated). The food is incredible that you can grub on while you wait, and the music plays about the same as any other small outside stage with intimate fan setting.

Some Upcoming Shows:

Bar and Grill

  • Oct. 21 – Wheeler Walker Jr.
  • Oct. 22 – Hinder

  • Feb. 16 – Black Veil Brides

Southside Ballroom

Southside Ballroom

The Southside Ballroom is such an awesome and fun place to catch live music. The open floor space is huge and offers levels to help out viewing. It succeeds because unless you’re in the middle of the crowd there isn’t really a bad spot in the venue. I also enjoy that all of the shows I have attended there have a small stage set up in the back of the room that bands will utilize giving those stuck in the back a close view of the band too. Separate from the stage area is a large room for merch tables which is nice to have away from where all of the speakers and crowd are. It makes transactions a little easier for everyone.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 17 – Run The Jewels
  • Nov. 3 – HIM
  • Nov. 19 – The Used with Glassjaw
  • Dec. 1 – 97.1 The Eagle Presents Chevelle

Starplex (Gexa)

Starplex Tickmaster

This pavilion plays host to a lot of large shows and festivals. Starplex has played host to Vans Warped Tour for years now, and has always kept it together well. They have a good track record on keeping quality sound and keeping up with artist’s stage shows. I do wish the canopy extended all the to the last row of seats though, so if you paid for seats you can still be covered from a storm.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 28 – Chris Stapleton
  • Dec. 31 – Country MegaTicket (feat. Florida Georgia Line. Lady Antebellum. Luke Bryan. Brad Paisley. Jason Aldean)

Verizon Theatre

Verizon Theatre

The Verizon Theatre is great all the way through from parking to seating everything runs smoothly. There is not a bad seat in the house with every seat offering a good view of the stage. All of the shows I have attended at Verizon have been put on very well. The theatre is able to bring in many huge, and legendary acts outside of the club scene at typically a pretty affordable price. There is always ample parking, though there is usually a decent fee.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 15 – KEGL Freakers’ Ball Feat. Marilyn Manson, Halestorm, In This Moment, Beartooth and more.
  • Dec. 2 – Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith
  • Dec. 8 – KSCS Country Fest 2017 Feat. Chris Young and Kane Brown
  • Feb. 10 – Little Big Town w/ Kacey Musgraves

The Door/Prophet Bar

The Door/Prophet Bar

The Door is one of a couple clubs in Deep Ellum that are always pulling the hottest acts in the scene. I have caught so many great shows at The Door and Prophet Bar. The Door offers a large amount of floor space, a nice size bar, and typically great sound. The biggest downside I can think of is the fact I always miss the sign and have to circle the block a couple times to find parking and the right building…that could just be me though.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 20 – The Devil Wears Prada
  • Oct. 25 – Call Me Karizma
  • Nov. 17 – Wizardfest ’17

Trees

Trees

This would be the other club that is always pulling in the hot acts. Trees is a great size venue that has parking on site making it easier to get in. I think the bar looks cool, the have these cool tree like pillars out on the floor, some tables for sitting, and much more to offer. The club also has a nice green room for bands to relax before they come on. The biggest downside I can think of is where merch has to be set up is kind of a small area and really close to the bathrooms so it gets backed up.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 29 – One-Eyed Doll
  • Nov. 1 – Dope and (HED) P.E.
  • Nov. 12 – Sebastian Bach
  • Jan. 30-31 – Say Anything

Sons of Hermann Hall

Sons of Hermann Hall

The historic Sons of Hermann Hall is one of the most unique venues to attend a show at. The place holds a significant piece of history in Dallas and Deep Ellum. The Hall features 2 separate rooms (one upstairs and one down) for live music and other events along with a bar. I personally love going to shows here and experiencing what feels like more intimate experiences with the crowd and bands. I haven’t experienced another venue that gives off the same vibe as Sons of Hermann Hall.

Some Upcoming Shows:

Check back on the venues site for updates.

Billy Bob’s

Billy Bob’s

The legend of Billy Bob’s lives on in this venue. The place is such a cool piece of history to check out. The building is quite large with a great restaurant, bull riding, and a huge area in front of the stage. Depending on the show it may be open for standing room or have a bunch of tables. There is so much memorabilia allover the place and hand prints from musicians, etc. Even if you aren’t interested in seeing any of the band’s playing there, the history of the place is enough to warrant a visit.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 27 – LeAnn Rimes
  • Oct. 28 – Trace Adkins
  • Nov. 10-11 – Willie Nelson
  • Nov. 25 – House of Pain

Granada Theater

Granada Theater

The Granada Theater is kind of a smaller theater, but has a lot to offer in the forms of entertainment. Aside from hosting concerts the theater also has Dallas Cowboys games playing on their large screens and other watch parties of movies, TV shows, and Netflix. This theater always has something fun going on for people looking for something to do. Music wise the theater offers an intimate feel with less floor space than some of the other clubs, but it still doesn’t feel cramped. Taking a step outside: Go take a look at this building; the outside is gorgeous.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 14 – Dinosaur Jr
  • Oct. 22 – Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band
  • May 4 – Echosmith

Tomcats West

Tomcats West

Fort Worth is home to Tomcats West, a very cool bar to catch a show at. The stage area isn’t oversized but it can fit a good crowd comfortably. There is a nice separation from the music half of the building and the other half. The bar separates itself to the back part of the building along with pool tables and adequate merch space. Plus this place almost always has killer parking readily available and for free.

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 6 – The Bunny The Bear
  • Oct. 27 – Within the Ruins

Honorable Mention: The Bomb Factory

The Bomb Factory

We are giving this venue an honorable mention as we have not yet been able to attend a show here, but we have heard nothing but incredible things about the spot! This has definitely been one of the hottest venues in the area since it opened. Plus look at some of these shows that are coming through!

Some Upcoming Shows:

  • Oct. 15 – Starset
  • Oct. 22 – Kid Cudi
  • Oct. 29 – Brand New
  • Nov. 7 – Circa Survive and Thrice
  • Nov. 8 – I Prevail w/ We Came as Romans, The Word Alive, and Escape the Fate
