Q and A with 3PMFebruary 5, 2015
3PM is a pop punk band out of Baltimore. This band released there sophomore album, Take It Slow, last year and are working on building off that success! The band is made up of Brennan Stark on vocals and guitar, Brandon Millman on drums, and Scott Montgomery on guitar. Check out what the band said why they sat down with BareBones Ent.
BS: What is it about 3PM that makes the band special?
3PM: Our diversity in age (17, 19, 23) has always been shocking to most people. Despite the age difference, we’ve been best friends since the day we met and love making/playing music together.
BS: If you could switch roles with anyone else in the band who would it be and why?
3PM: Brennan wouldn’t switch with anyone because he loves kissing microphones. Scott and Brandon would switch because Scott loves the drums and Brandon also loves guitar!
BS: When you were a kid what was your dream? Is it still the same?
3PM: In 5th grade Brennan was asked what he dreamed of doing as a career and his response was to be a rock star. Scott wanted to play something cooler than the clarinet, so he picked up the guitar and dreamed of playing with blink-182, while Brandon wanted to lift things up and put them down.
BS: For fans that are wanting to follow their dreams into music, what advice would you have for them?
3PM: Honest advice is to never be satisfied with what you have done. Always try to write a better album, to play a better show, and promote more effectively. Also, there is no better way to spread the word of your band than personally getting involved in the scene; go to local shows, meet people, make connections, and of course plug your band!
BS: Best advice that you ever received?
3PM: “You can sleep when you’re dead!” Our manager didn’t give this as advice, but as a demand. Every single day. However, it is very true! If you want to be exceptional, you have to give exceptional effort.
BS: Last year you released your sophomore album, Slow Me Down. What was the making of that album like for you?
3PM: Making Slow Me Down was some of the most fun we’ve ever had, and it was an incredible learning experience. The process was more professional than our past efforts, more time consuming, and more fun. We love making music, so there is no better feeling than seeing your hard work reach the next level.
BS: How did fans respond to it?
3PM: We pulled a great crowd to our release show and even though the air conditioning was broken in the middle of July, people had a great time! Most of our current supporters became fans after the release and we like to think it was because they enjoy our music.
BS: This is always hard, but what is your favorite song off of it and why?
3PM: Brennan’s favorite is still the oldie, ‘Perfect for Me’ (we only say oldie because it was the single from our first album Change of Plans). Scott’s favorite is the album opener, ‘Something New,’ and Brandon’s favorite is the single and title track, ‘Slow Me Down.’
BS: How do you feel about the ease that fans can communicate with bands through social media? Do you think that has changed the landscape of that relationship?
3PM: We think it is very beneficial to bands these days. Fans love talking to their favorite bands, and we love talking to the people who allow us to do what we love day in and day out. Social media has changed everything about music in the past five years, but it has also leveled the playing field for all the bands. Everybody has a voice, but it can reach a point when there a too many voices.
BS: What is the best way for fans to get ahold of you?
3PM: We’re always on Twitter! @3PM_music =D
You can also follow our personal twitters: @Brennan3PM, @Scott3PM, and @Brandon3PM.
BS: Anything else you would like to say to your fans?
3PM: We love you all, and thank you so much for always being there for us. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to make music and we wouldn’t have an audience to entertain. Thank you for believing that our music can really make a difference.
