Bad Magic Review

Legendary rock band Motorhead has been around for many years and released many records. You may know them from classics such as “Ace of Spades” and self-titled “Motorhead”. While the band has had their share of dismal releases over the more recent years, will Bad Magic change things around? This year marks Motorhead’s 40th year together and Bad Magic is their 22nd studio album! Bad Magic is set for an August 28 release. Lemmy and the guys did things a little different this time around by writing and recording the album together right in the studio. Read on friends and see if Motorhead has fizzled out or are back with a vengeance!

Bad Magic starts with the stomper, “Victory or Die”. I think that this is a good song to play live and for fans as they can easily get involved. I would say the song is a good way to show fans what they might be in for with this album. This isn’t the best song on the album, but it didn’t let it down either. [Join me as we jump around this album!]

While the songs in between here are great songs I want to take us down the tracklist to another song. This is something a little different. On the track, “The Devil”, you can hear an incredible guitar solo from fellow music legend Brian May. If the name doesn’t do anything for you, Brian is from Queen (Yes, “We Will Rock You”, “Bohemian Rhapsody…that Queen.) The guitar playing from the band and Brian May drive the song forward with all of the ferocity it can manage. Early on one of the most notable tracks on the album.

Have you heard, “Electricity”, the new single off of the album? Also, can we just take a moment and appreciate some of these song titles? “Teach them How to Bleed”, “Tell Me Who To Kill”, and “Choking On Your Screams”.

Here’s an unexpected surprise on the album. The ballad, “Til The End” quickly shifts pace. I like the change of pace as it keeps you on your toes and shows what else the band is capable of. The lyrics are self-assuring and positive. I think fans will relate regularly

Let’s jump down to the last song on the album. Motorhead brought back a classic song from The Rolling Stones and made the effort in making it their own. The band succeeded in making an awesome cover of The Rolling Stone’s original song, and possibly the best song on the album. The drums are sick on this track and Lemmy’s vocals match the tune wonderfully! If you dig the original make sure to check out Motorhead’s cover of the song!

Overall I think this is a great Motorhead album, and definitely the best work they’ve done in a long time. All of the songs feel very raw, crisp, and fierce which is very refreshing in music today. Motorhead is back and here to prove to the world that they aren’t hanging it up yet! I think the album was just missing that one song that you can’t turn off. If you’re ready to rock with the meanest and nastiest band in the world, make sure to pick up this album and go see the band out on tour with Saxon. [Peep the tour dates Here!
